Gas Lift Valves

Optimizing Gas Lift Systems for Maximum Efficienc
TALK TO A SME EXPERT

Overview

Gas lift systems are the lifeblood of many oil and gas production operations. They inject gas into the production tubing, aerating the fluid and facilitating its efficient flow to the surface. A key component of these systems is the valve, which regulates the flow of gas and optimizes production.

Conventional Valves:

These valves are attached to the outside of tubing retrievable mandrels, inserted into the tubing string at predetermined depths. While simple in design, retrieving these  mandrel requires pulling the entire tubing string, which can be time-consuming and costly.

Wireline Retrievable Valves:

Offering greater flexibility, these valves are installed into side-pocket mandrels using wireline units. This eliminates the need to pull the entire tubing string, allowing for faster and more efficient maintenance.

Types of Gas Lift Valves:

Injection Pressure Operated (IPO): These valves utilize a nitrogen-charged dome and bellows to regulate gas flow. When pressure outside the bellows exceeds the dome pressure, the valve opens, allowing gas injection.

Production Pressure Operated (PPO): Instead of a nitrogen dome, PPO valves employ a high-quality Inconel spring as the closing force. This makes them ideal for installations with high temperatures and common-annulus dual configurations.
Maximizing Production Through Effective Gas Lift Management:
Proper Injection Gas Pressure: Maintaining optimal injection pressure ensures the valves function as designed, maximizing production.
Precise Volume Management: Careful control of gas volume ensures efficient operation and avoids unnecessary waste.
